    LL-37 is a multifunctional antimicrobial peptide, which has the potential to be developed into a drug with dual functions of antibacterial and immunity enhancing. LL-37 is the only member of the cathelicidin family, which has been found in human body so far. It is also the only amphiphilic α - helix antibacterial peptide in human body. The antibacterial activity depends on the formation of its spiral conformation, and kills bacteria through the "carpet like" mechanism.
